Where tile earns its keep in Golden
Golden homes take in a lot of weather. Winter slush, spring mud, and summer rain all come through the front door, and tile at the entry or mudroom keeps that mess contained and easy to wipe up. Bathrooms and laundry rooms are the other natural places for it.
Kitchens are a classic spot as well, especially when you want a surface that can handle a dropped pot and years of foot traffic. Tile also pairs well with radiant in-floor heat, which makes a cold Colorado morning much friendlier.

Porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone
Porcelain is dense, durable, and available in wood looks, concrete looks, and classic stone patterns, which is why it is our most common recommendation. Ceramic is a good value for walls and lighter-use floors. Natural stone like slate or travertine brings real character but needs sealing and more care.
We bring tile samples to your home so you can set them against your cabinets and walls in your own light. Our pages on porcelain tile and natural stone tile go deeper on each material.

What tile costs installed
Installed prices usually range from about $8 to $20 per square foot for standard porcelain and ceramic, depending on tile size, pattern, and the amount of prep. Large-format tile, intricate patterns like herringbone, and natural stone push costs higher, and so does significant subfloor leveling.
Your free in-home measure gives the exact number. We include removal of the old floor, surface preparation, setting materials, grout, and cleanup so the quote you receive is complete, and financing is available subject to credit approval.

Prep is the secret to tile that lasts
A tile floor is only as good as what is underneath it. Colorado's expansive clay soils can move concrete slabs a little over time, and wood subfloors flex more than tile likes, so we check flatness, add the right underlayment or uncoupling membrane, and plan control joints where they are needed.
This step is invisible once the floor is finished, but it is what keeps grout lines intact and tiles from cracking. We would rather spend an extra hour on prep than return to fix a problem later.

Start to finish with our crew
Our mobile design showroom comes to you first, with samples, measuring, and a no-obligation quote on the spot. After you choose, we move furniture, remove the old flooring, prep the surface, set the tile, grout, and clean.
Tile needs time to cure, so we will explain when you can walk on it and when grout is fully set. About ten days after the work is done we return to confirm everything looks and performs as it should.

Bathrooms, showers, and beyond
Many Golden customers pair floor tile with a refreshed shower surround or backsplash. We can tile walls as well as floors, and our wall tiles page shows options. If you are thinking of a larger bathroom remodel, we can mention what we do while keeping the flooring work front and center.
Mosaic tile is a lovely accent for shower floors and niches, and it gives traction as well. Ask us to bring a few mosaic sheets along to your estimate.

Keeping tile and grout looking good
Sweep or vacuum regularly and mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Golden's hard water can leave white mineral film on tile and in grout lines, which a mild vinegar-free tile cleaner or a periodic descaling product helps remove. Avoid harsh acids on natural stone.
Sealing grout once the floor has fully cured, and re-sealing every couple of years, keeps it from absorbing stains. We are glad to show you the right products during the follow-up visit.

Tile can crack if the slab moves and the prep was skipped. We use appropriate underlayments and joints to reduce that risk.
A typical bathroom or entry takes a few days, including cure time. Larger areas take longer, and we confirm the schedule up front.
